Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has announced road closures and public transport schedules that can help ease traffic and guide the public to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Dubai.
A video released by the Roads and Transport Authority on Twitter gives details of all the road closures and extended metro timings to ensure the safety of the public while they celebrate.

From 4pm on Saturday, December 31, Al Asayel Street, Burj Khalifa Street, Financial Centre Street Lower Deck and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard will be closed to all Motorists. Parts of Al Mustaqbal Street between 2nd Za’abeel Road and Al Meydan Roadwill also be closed from 4pm.
Al Sukook Street will be closed at 8:00pm. After which Financial Centre Street Upper Deck will also close at 9pm to motorists.
Dubai Water Canal pedestrian bridges and elevators will also be closed in Jumeirah, Al Safa, and Business Bay.
Roads closures are expected to end on January 1st (Sunday) between 01:00 am and 02:00 am. The exact time will be decided by the RTA and Dubai Police after considering the situation.
How to get to the Burj Khalifa area
The committee identified three paths for members of the public to use to get to the Burj Khalifa area from nearby metro stations.
The first path is from Burj Khalifa station and will be divided into two parts, a section for families to the Al Jazeera Park area and the area behind the “Burj View”. The second section will be for other groups and will lead to the “South Ridge”, the area designated for watching fireworks.
The second path will be from Financial Centre station, where a section will be allocated for families heading to the Boulevard area, while the second section will be for other groups going to the South Edge area.
The third path will be for those coming from Business Bay station.
Metro Timings on New Year’s Eve in Dubai
If you are arriving by Metro, Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station will be closed from 5pm on Saturday, or earlier if numbers exceed the station’s capacity.
The metro’s red and green line will start operating from 5am on Saturday, December 31 until midnight on January 2, for a period of 43 hours.
Dubai Tram will be in service from 6am on December 31 to 1am on January 2, in order to facilitate the public’s access to the event area and the exit process after the end of the shows.
If you’re heading to Palm Jumeirah, The Palm Monorail will be open later than usual until 3am.
