Students now enjoy more affordable airfare with the UAE based airlines – Emirates and Etihad (hooray).
International students flying with Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airways, both based in the UAE, can now enjoy discounts of up to 10 percent on their upcoming flight tickets. While both airlines provide student discounts, certain criteria must be met to avail of the reduced fares. Here are all the pertinent details.
How to avail discounts with Emirates and Etihad Airways for students..
Etihad Airways
Students hailing from specific countries have the opportunity to enjoy savings of up to 10 percent on Economy Class tickets and up to 5 percent on Business Class tickets when traveling to their country of study or home country with Etihad.
To qualify for this discount:
- Be an international student aged 18-32
- Studying abroad in any of these countries : Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Maldives, the Netherlands, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, the UAE and the UK.

You need to book your ticket before Sunday June 30, 2024.
How to apply..
Applying for the discount is a straightforward three-step process.
Step 1: Enroll in Etihad Guest, a loyalty program offering numerous rewards.
Step 2: Validate your international student status by submitting a valid student ID or an acceptance letter in English. You’ll receive an email confirmation after they have reviewed your documents.
Step 3: Log in with your Etihad Guest account and proceed to book your flight tickets.
The student discount remains valid for 12 months from the date of verification.
Emirates Airways
Emirates is offering a special deal with extra baggage benefits for individuals aged 16 to 31. To apply the discount, use the promotional code ‘STUDENT’ when booking before Sunday, March 31st, 2024. Remember to have a valid student ID or school acceptance letter for presentation during the check-in process.
Eligibility criteria for Emirates students discount
• This offer is available for full time students between 16 and 31 years of age at the time of the outbound travel date and who hold a valid student ID from an accredited school or university of higher education.
• You must be enrolled in a higher education institution and have your student ID or university acceptance letter available upon request at any airport check in counter.
• If you do not provide a valid student identification document, the student ticket and benefits will be forfeited and a new ticket at the applicable fare on the day of departure will be applied for travel.
• The discounted fares can only be booked for one student per booking, which means that only the student will be eligible for the discount, and not any accompanying guest, family members or relatives.
The ongoing offer allows students to get a 10 per cent discount on Economy Class and a five per cent discount on Business Class fares.

Extra baggage allowance
Students also get an extra 10kg baggage allowance or one extra piece of baggage on top of the baggage allowance for the trip. However, this excludes journeys to or from Canada and the USA, where the standard baggage allowances will apply.
Till when is the offer valid?
According to Emirates, the offer is valid for new bookings until March 31, 2024.
