The Roads and Transport Authority has unveiled a new rail bus project in Dubai, promising a greener and more cost-efficient way to travel around the city.
Announced in a post on X, formerly Twitter, the RTA revealed that the entirely 3D-printed rail bus, crafted from recyclable materials, will have the capacity to carry 40 passengers at a time and achieve an operational speed of 100km/h.
The futuristic-looking pods will be 11.5 metres in length and 2.65 metres wide with 22 seats in each carriage.
A model of the RTA Rail Bus is currently showcased at the World Government Summit 2025 at Madinat Jumeirah. Featuring a striking gold and black exterior, the bus is designed with two rows of orange seats and includes space for disabled passengers, ensuring accessibility for everyone.

What is the Dubai Rail Bus?
The Rail Bus highlights seven key features that make it a compelling choice for a city like Dubai.
The vehicles will rely on solar power, with all tracks covered by solar panels, reducing carbon emissions and ensuring a cost-effective energy supply.

Designed with urban landscapes in mind, the advanced 3D-printed structure is aerodynamic, enabling faster movement.
Each vehicle will be spacious, accommodating up to 40 passengers, and constructed using eco-friendly materials to minimise its environmental impact.
Noise emissions will be kept to a minimum, enhancing the overall travel experience.
The Rail Bus is designed for reliability and efficiency, meeting the high demands of urban public transportation.
Safety and security will be a top priority, monitored by a dedicated team of experts.
The memorandum of understanding for this project was signed alongside another futuristic rail initiative in Dubai – the Floc Duo Rail.
The low-cost system will run on elevated tracks, which are expected to be built around the emirate. Designed to go upto 100kmph, the bus will measure 2.9 meters in height and 11.5 meters in length and will be fully powered by solar energy and driven autonomously.
