The Central Bank of the UAE has introduced a new Dh500 banknote, crafted from polymer, ahead of the upcoming National Day on Saturday, December 2. The note will officially enter circulation on Thursday, November 30.
As a component of the national currency initiative, the bill incorporates advanced security features, including the highly sophisticated multi-colored security chip technology called KINEGRAM COLORS, making counterfeiting exceptionally challenging. Emphasizing the UAE’s commitment to sustainability, the new banknote aligns with the nation’s vision in this regard.

The UAE stands as the pioneering Middle Eastern country to extensively incorporate a foil strip of this kind on banknotes, a feature previously witnessed on the Dhs1,000 note released earlier this year.
Curious about the appearance of the new note? One side features an image of the Terra Sustainability Pavilion in Expo City Dubai.
On the flip side, you’ll find depictions of the Museum of the Future, Emirates Towers, and the iconic Burj Khalifa. As the world’s tallest building, soaring to a height of 828 meters with over 160 floors, the Burj Khalifa serves as a testament to sustainability, predominantly relying on solar power.
Commencing its circulation on Thursday, November 30, the new banknote coincides with the commencement of COP28, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, at Expo City on the same day.
