Dubai Police have been firing the cannons on special occasions such as Eid Al Fitr, Eid Al Adha and on all the 30 days of Ramadan since the early 1960s. Each day during the holy month of Ramadan, a single shot is fired at the time of iftar to announce that it was time to break the day’s fast. Two shots are fired to mark the start of Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha.
