Attention, commuters…

Beginning August 17, the minimum top-up amount for Nol card at Metro station ticket offices will increase to Dh50, up from Dh20, as announced by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on X last Friday.

However, the new minimum top-up amount does not apply for online balance replenishments. The RTA notes that the fastest methods to top up your Nol card are through the Nol Pay app, the official RTA website, or the RTA Dubai app.

If you haven’t tried it yet, the simplest way to add credit to your travel card is through the NolPay app, avoiding the often lengthy queues at Dubai Metro stations.

After downloading the app, you can simply tap your Nol card on your mobile phone to view details like transaction history, credit balance, and expiry date. It’s very convenient.

If you’re unable to access any of these options while on the go, you’ll need to pay Dhs50.

You can also easily check your credit balance using:

  • The RTA website
  • The Shail App
  • The RTA Dubai App
  • The ticketing office at the metro station

Commuters are now required to have a minimum balance of Dhs15 on their Nol card (up from Dhs7.50) when using the metro for a round trip. One-way fares vary from Dhs3 to Dhs15, depending on the area zones and class.

What is a Nol card?

Nol cards are pre-paid smart cards that allow for easy payment across various public transportation modes in the city with a single tap. They can be used for the metro, tram, buses, water taxis, and even Dubai taxis.

A gold nol card grants entry to the Metro’s first class carriages, while a silver card offers regular access, with dedicated spaces for women and children.

These cards can be purchased in any Ticket Offices, Ticket vending machines and RTA Authorized Sales Agent. RTA has also launched a virtual nol card via nol Pay application.

Several restaurants in Dubai now accept Nol card payments. Planning a family outing to a public park? You’ll need your Nol card to cover the Dhs5 entry fee at places such as Quranic Park, Zabeel Park, Al Mamzar Beach Park, Mushrif Park, Creek Park, and others. You can also use it to purchase tickets at the Etihad Museum.
