The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is improving access to Al Warqa’a by adding new entry and exit points from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
This project is part of a larger plan, guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to enhance infrastructure in growing residential areas. The aim is to make travel easier for residents by reducing traffic and improving the overall quality of life.
Better Roads and Faster Travel
The project will improve roads inside Al Warqa’a, stretching across eight kilometres. Once completed, it will increase the road capacity by 5,000 vehicles per hour, significantly reducing travel time from 20 minutes to just 3.5 minutes.
The distance travelled will also be cut down from 5.7 kilometres to 1.5 kilometres, making journeys quicker and more convenient for residents. The project is expected to be completed within a year.
Benefiting Over 350,000 Residents
According to His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of the RTA, these new access points will help over 350,000 people living in Al Warqa’a. In addition to the new entry and exit points, the RTA will also upgrade Al Warqa’a 1 Street and convert roundabouts into signalised junctions to improve traffic flow.
These changes are expected to boost the capacity of Al Warqa’a 1 Street by 30%, making daily commutes smoother and less congested.
