Here’s How You Can Remove Black Points on August 28: ‘A Day Without Accidents’

Take the Pledge on August 28

A Day Without Accidents

This year, on ‘A Day Without Accidents’, you have the chance to wipe away those pesky black points from your record.

With more than 24 points potentially leading to a driving ban, this is your golden opportunity to clear the slate. The exciting news? It’s as simple as can be!

The UAE’s Ministry of Interior, in partnership with local police forces, has designated August 28 as ‘A Day Without Accidents.’

This initiative aims to educate the public on traffic rules, regulations, and safe driving practices. On this special day, Dubai drivers will have the opportunity to remove up to four black points from their driving records through a government-backed program.

Committing to the traffic pledge is straightforward, and with a little common sense, you’ll have it done in no time. Here’s what the pledge entails:

  • I promise to maintain a safe distance from the car in front of me.
  • I will give way to pedestrians at crossings.
  • I will always buckle up my seatbelt.
  • I will stick to the speed limits.
  • I will avoid using a handheld mobile phone while driving.
  • I will make way for emergency vehicles, police, public service vehicles, and official convoys.

If you adhere to the pledge, which you can sign up for through the Ministry of Interior or Dubai Police, the black points will be removed on Saturday, September 14.

According to Khaleej Times, Brig. Gen. Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Head of the Federal Traffic Council at the Ministry of Interior, stated, “Our efforts will remain steady, particularly in raising awareness, in line with our plans for 2023.”

He further explained, “We selected August 28 to align with the start of the school year, creating a proactive opportunity for all sectors of society, both public and private, to collaborate towards ensuring accident-free and hazard-free roads.”

The initiative aims to foster a sense of responsibility across the entire community—ranging from institutions to individuals—with the goal of achieving accident-free roads.
