Jebel Jais is the highest peak in the United Arab Emirates at 1934m above sea level, which attracts thrill-seekers and nature lovers, providing adrenaline-pumping experiences and nature-appreciating activities.
The Jebel Jais mountain peak is part of the spectacular cloud-piercing Hajar mountain range. The range extends from Ras Al Khaimah on the eastern side of the United Arab Emirates to the Musandam Peninsula on the northeastern side of Oman.

1. Jais flight – the world’s longest zipline
Ziplining across the canyons of the majestic Hajar mountains, is by far one of the best things to do in Jebel Jais. Experience hair-raising speeds of up to 150 km per hour as you cross jagged mountain peaks and swirl through deep ravines, at a height of at 1680 metres above the Arabian Gulf.
The Jebel Jais zipline, or Jebel Jais Flight has been certified by World’s Guinness Records as the world’s longest zipline.
Measuring 2.83 kilometers long, the record-breaking zipline is roughly the length of more than 28 football pitches, with the flight taking around two to three minutes. For adrenalin junkies seeking thrilling adventures, it’s a must-do!

2. Jais Sledder – the longest toboggan ride in the region
Jais Sledder at Jais Adventure Peak, a 885-metre toboggan ride that runs down the Hajar Mountains, is the region’s longest toboggan ride.
Jais Sledder is an alpine coaster, that sits comfortably on a low-slung track and capable of reaching speeds of up to 40 km/hr, with each rider having their own braking system. As you sit close to ground, it feels like the speed is multiplied ten-fold. The total ride takes about eight minutes to cover 1,840 exhilarating metres of hairpin curves and undulating waves.

3. Jais Sky Tour
Jais Sky Tour is a series of six ziplines that range in length from 337m to 1km, featuring an aerial mountain tour that zips from platform to platform. The Jais Zipline Sky Tour can reach up to the speed of 60 km per hour, taking you to the UAE’s highest bridge located 1,250 metres above sea level.
The self-guided tour, about an hour long, covers a distance of 5km. The Jais Sky Tour gives thrill-seekers and adventures the opportunity to experience the thrill of ‘flying’ at the top of the Hajar Mountains and gives you an extraordinary bird’s-eye view as you fly.
The experience also consists of a thrilling walk across the UAE’s highest sky bridge, suspended 300mts above the ground.

4. Jebel Jais Via Ferrata
The next option on our list of things to do in Jebel Jais is for those looking to do something different, where accessible adventure meets the extreme.
Via Ferrata is Italian for ‘iron path’ and is an exhilarating climb for all levels of mountaineering. Jebel Jais Via Ferrata is a protected mountain climbing route across 1km of Jebel Jais, that involves a combination of walking, hiking, climbing and ziplining. There are three thrilling ziplines measuring 50, 60 and 300 metres, which are separated by a mountainous climbing route.
Climbers will stay securely attached to steel cables at all times as they traverse the guide-led route. The entire experience lasts for about four hours, including hiking over three mountain hikes, that are connected with a series of zip wires.
There will be no more than 20 people on each tour. Only one person will be on the zip-lines at any one time. Casual shoes are not allowed, make sure you wear sturdy trainers or running shoes with good grip or hiking boots.

5. Jais Ropes Course
Jais Ropes Course is a fun and interactive activity at Bear Grylls Explorers Camp. With a two-level rope and bridge course, the Jais Ropes Course is an hour-long knee-trembling experience.
It is a self-guided obstacle maze that floats 10-metres above the ground. There are rope swings, a narrow bicycle link, rickety bridges, balancing stands, swinging loops, and crawl tunnels.
Previously known as Jais Sky Maze, it offers adventure seekers of all ages make their way through several obstacles of varying difficulty, split across two levels to accommodate both kids and adults.
The two levels in the obstacle include: the first level is at a lower height and includes easy challenges that are suitable for children aged 6 years and above. The second level is 10 meters above the ground, and features slightly more challenging obstacles that teenagers and adults can enjoy.

6. Jais Viewing Deck Park
The breathtaking mountain views from Jebel Jais are definitely worth checking off your bucket list.
Located 1,250 metres above sea level, the park spans a ridge and features seven viewing decks with 12 powerful binoculars that command unparalleled panoramas. Views from one side give way to zig-zagging road, swooping valleys, and cloud-piercing peaks, while on the other, date wadis, villages and the Arabian Gulf.

7. Hiking at Jebel Jais
The UAE’s highest peak has been named the best destination for hikers in the UAE.
Hiking trails have been maintained at the mountain to ensure that each tourist can fully explore this area. The total distance of hiking trails is 16km which is divided into two segments i.e. upper and lower segments. The lower segment features trails as short as 0.7 km to as long as 6 km. The upper segment has one trail – the Ghaf Summit, a 4.3km long trail.
You can also trek through the valleys of Wadi Al Far and Wadi Shah.

8. Jebel Jais Ice Rink
Ice skate on the highest mountain in the UAE at Jebel Jais Skating Rink.
Found at the Jebel Jais Viewing Deck Park, at an impressive height of 1300 metres above sea level, the Jebel Jais ice rink is open to adults and children above the age of three.
Timings: 10:00AM to 5:00pm, Wednesday to Sunday
Tickets priced at AED 45 for 30 minutes skating, which includes ice skate rental.
Advised to carry a jacket or sweater since the temperature drops below 10degree Celsius sometimes at the mountain peak.

9. Camping in Jebel Jais
Looking for a quite weekend in nature? Jebel Jais being the highest peak of UAE offers you this opportunity.
There are several perfect spots along the mountain route to pitch a tent and set up a barbecue. The stunning view of the rising sun over the rocky mountains is one of the reasons to attract campers to stay over the night.
For first timers there are 3 dedicated campsites established by government. These sites have plain ground, parking, toilets, shades and clear rules.
Just keep in mind that bonfires should be made in fire pits and barbecues must be done on a grill or you could get finned.
10. Bear Grylls Explorer Camp
The Bear Grylls Explorers Camp is located in the mountainous northern Emirate, Ras Al Khaimah. Each explorer-instructor is highly skilled and trained in survival techniques practised by world-honoured Bear Grylls OBE.
The camp is a unique survival experience designed by the man himself. His team will equip  with the essential life skills and techniques needed to survive the wilds of the mountains and desertlands.
The camp is home to the Bear Grylls Survival Academy UAE. This is where budding survivalists can hone their skills by participating in various courses.
The camp will provide wild camp accommodation, a camp-style dinner, breakfast and selected kit items during the camp experience.
